This Way to 1834

An exhibition created by the Anarchist Time Travellers for the London Anarchist Bookfair Radical History Area, 2013.

It compares the language of politicians deanting the introduction of the New Poor Law, in 1834, which made imprisonment in the Workhouse the main 'welfare' the poor could expect, and the current language used by today's politicians as they 'reform' benefits.
